Image (1) -- close-up view of the finished resin casting of the base for the vaporator model (Top View). The holes allow for wiring of electronics or lighting systems and can be used a pilot holes for mounting screws if the base needs to be attached to a larger diorama base.

The collar will accept either standard 1" inside diameter PVC (code 40) or a standard 3/4" PVC female to female coupling. May be dependant on brand as wall thickness will effect fit.

This base was constructed of a modified piece from a vintage Mego "Buck Rogers" Draconian Marauder engine. My original prototype base was built from scratch in styrene and PVC, but when I realized how well this piece resembled the base of the actual movie prop and would be the correct scale, I decided to use it instead of the scratch-built version.

Image (3) -- close-up view of the built-up main unit of the Vaporator model (Front View). The Unit portion was built entirely from scratch using sheet, strip and rod styrene pieces from Evergreen Scale Models and Plastruct. The vents are simply very carefully cut and placed scribed sheet styrene.
