CUSTOM EGYPTIAN CLIP ART BY
FETTSPLACE

ABOUT THE TITLE GRAPHIC. . .
"WINGED ISIS" was designed to resemble a wall painting found in the tomb of Seti (XIX Dynasty). Portrayed wearing the hieroglyph for "Throne" on her head. Later (new kingdom onward) she was sometimes shown wearing the solar disc between cow horns on her head rather than the traditional "Throne" hieroglyph.

Master files of all clip art in this library were created and saved in AutoCAD R14 .DXF vector formats then edited in CorelDraw X4, before being saved into multiple formats (native vector and bitmaps) so they can be imported into word processors or publishers and scaled as needed. They can be used to make high quality fliers, brochures, etc. or school projects. e.g. BAST Cartouche.  Since each has  vector versions they can be scaled and printed in tiny to huge dimensions, even billboard and larger.  All images on this page are copyrighted.

Above: close up view of Ra's and Horus' necklaces to show some of the details.

Above: My representations of cat goddesses Bast (left) and Sekhmet (right). Bast was a goddess of Lower Egypt and Sekhmet (the lioness headed goddess) was goddess of Upper Egypt.

Background study: More modern mythology concludes that they are twin sisters; however ancient mythology does not support this. There is some mention their father is Ra; however no mention as to either's mother. Bast is most commonly portrayed as a domestic cat or human female with domestic cat head; however she may have had other forms as well, in particular taking on the lioness head like Sekhmet. These are also major characters in the modern myth "Cosmic Orgasm" which has no real basis in ancient mythology. The modern story is also the one that gives Bast the title of goddess of lesbians. One thing that does seem to hold true throughout old and modern mythology is that Bast is nearly always portrayed holding a sistrum (a musical instrument).  Bast is often misspelled as BASTET.
