Rebel Taxi (Yavin
Hanger) The Rebel Taxi pictured at left was scratch built using plain sheet, rod, tube and scribed styrene sheets from Evergreen Scale Models. The lights on the front of the taxi are LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes), and are powered by a 9V battery through a circuit built around a common LM555 IC. This circuit allows for a selection from steady burn to very slow flashing of the LEDs via variable resistor. This is one of my oldest scratch built items and was finished in September of 1996. It's not as accurate as some of my models, but considering it is was one of my very first attempts at scratch building a model of a movie prop it isn't too bad. Notice the side the control lever is on . . . it's on the opposite side as the first ones you see in the movie, however, this is the correct side for the one Han was seen loading in the Yavin IV hanger. I have noticed what appears to be three distinct variations of the taxis in the Yavin IV scenes. The silver containers are resin castings from my vintage Dagobah Playset and the blue container is a resin casting of the POTF2 container that came with the Millennium carrying case..
